Presidio Gate Senior Housing
The historic facility was originally constructed in 1929, and currently contains 55 residential rental units providing housing and services for low-income seniors. The building is owned and managed by a non-profit organization, and receives funding under HUD’s Section 8 program. In addition to the extensive renovation work, we prepared an in-depth Physical Needs Assessment report for the client.
Our scope included coordinating design, permit, and construction documentation for:
- Restoration of the original Spanish tile roof
- Replacement of failed aluminum windows with accessible and period-appropriate windows
- Repair and replacement of stucco, gutters, and exterior historic ornament
- Color studies and mock-ups for new exterior ornament and painting
- Complete replacement of the site’s landscaping, irrigation, and site lighting
- Replacement of exterior stair steel pipe railings with custom ornamental bronze railings
- Update to current accessibility code all exterior stairs, railings, lighting, signage and paths of travel
- Interior design for the common areas and dwelling units
