Pacifica Village Apartments
Taking advantage of California’s multifamily ADU legislation, OpenScope Studio is finding creative ways to add accessory dwelling units (ADUs) to existing multifamily properties. At a large site in Pacifica tuck-under parking was converted into 42 new income-restricted affordable apartments. This was possible per state ADU law that allows an addition of up to 25% of the existing unit count to multifamily properties. The mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom units provide much-needed workforce housing within an easy commute of nearby San Francisco. OpenScope worked with the owner to maximize the unit count via doing two lot mergers, and also designed a surface parking lot in place of of unused swimming pool to mitigate the parking loss.
The project completed construction in 2024.
